Apprentices develop technical skills, experience the sharing of assignments and see how technical tasks relate specifically with theoretical knowledge and interpretation. Apprentices earn a wage while learning. Enrollment in this program is restricted. You must be registered as an apprentice with the State of California to participate in the program and accepted into the apprenticeship program by our Union partners.

TRADES ACADEMY
Custodial Training Program: Learn to perform scheduled custodial duties which are required to maintain school facilities, equipment, buildings and adjacent areas. Successful completion of this course equips students with highly desirable skills for applying for entry level custodial positions.

Floral Design: This class includes high style and modern style, appropriate for students seeking personal skills, as well as students working towards a floral design certificate. You should have a passion to create and some great ideas. Or perhaps you need some new ideas or that special touch to bring your ideas to life. Students wanting to learn Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangements) are welcome.

ServSafe: Serving safe food is a must! Plus, to work in any eatery, you must be certified. To become certified, take this comprehensive eight-hour course (including test) covering sanitation and safe food handling practices. Successfully completing this course meets AB 1978 requirements for adults interested in, or working in, the food service industry. Learn from a Contra Costa County environmental health specialist. Your fee includes the course, book and test. Maximum Enrollment = 20 students. You must enroll no later than two (2) weeks prior to start of class.

HOW TO GET STARTED
Admission: Classes are open to all adults (18 years old and older) who are presently not attending high school and are able to benefit from instruction.

Registration: Registration for Trades Academy classes takes place through the Adult Education Main Office. This can be done in person, by mail or FAX.
